(a) As though your did not see it. 22:2 And if thy brother [be] not {b} nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again. (b) Showing that brotherly affection must be shown, not only to those who dwell near to us, but also to those who are far off. 22:3 In like manner shalt thou do with his {c} ass; and so shalt thou do with his raiment; and with all lost thing of thy brother's, which he hath lost, and thou hast found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide thyself. (i) For the fault of the child becomes the shame of the parents: therefore he was recompensed when she was faultless. 22:26 But unto the damsel thou shalt do nothing; [there is] in the damsel no sin [worthy] of death: for as when a man riseth against his neighbour, and slayeth him, even so {k} [is] this matter: (k) Meaning, that the innocent cannot be punished. 22:30 A man shall not {l} take his father's wife, nor discover his father's skirt.
